Not a bad idea, but at least on a dash with any slope it soon flags out and slides off with any “abrupt” movement. You are better off with one of the bean bags

New friction dashboard Mount
Excellent and folds to compact size for storage. Flexible bottom and sides also allow better contour to any dashboard setup. Using with Garmin Nuvi 1390t.

Just what I needed
I travel and use rental cars often. I needed a mount for my Garmin that was easy to use in my company car and when I travel. In my company car it works very well.
